    Bonjour tout le monde !                                                                                      8 mars 2010

    La tempête n'empêche pas le printemps d'arriver inexorablement. Le temps qui passe et le temps qu'il fait fonctionnent indépendamment. Donc le printemps arrive, accompagné du Printemps des Poètes, les poètes qui ont écrit et écrivent dans toutes les circonstances, aussi joyeuses ou tragiques soient-elles. Alors nous vous invitons à participer aux manifestations  qui seront organisées dans ce cadre, de même que nous vous rappelons le Concours des 10 Mots de la francophonie. Même si vous n'êtes pas dans la tranche d'âge pour vous inscrire, vous pouvez écrire par plaisir ou pour vous changer, un temps, les idées si vous avez été victimes de la tempête.

    A ce propos vous pouvez toujours lire directement les derniers articles du journal Sud-Ouest sur les dégâts de notre région et consultez notre revue de presse dans la rubrique  "Xynthia". (Cliquez sur "taille réelle" lorsque l'article est sous forme d'image pour faciliter votre lecture).

    Autre chose : la course d'alligators à la Nouvelle Ibérie du samedi 6 mars. On vous l'avait annoncée. Lisez l'article, en anglais, du Daily Iberian, avant la course. Ensuite nous aimerions bien avoir des photos de la course elle-même. Si des Nouveaux Ibériens se sentent concernés, qu'ils nous en envoient !

    The 7th Annual Great Gator Race in New Iberia, Louisiana

    >> Yesterday was a delightful sunny day with a temperature of 66 degrees... A great day to have a gator race. It's an annual event and Mary and I were lucky enough to be in town for this exciting event of 5,000 Alligators racing down the Bayou Teche!

    There were lots of friendly folks attending. The event was controlled by the New Iberia Police and very interestingly...New Iberiea Parish Jail Trustees dressed in their black and white striped jail suits.

    As usual, lots of beer and food. Mary and I are finding eating out in Louisiana to be quite an experience. As a rule, we do not eat fried foods and it seems almost everything food-wise down here is FRIED! We passed on eating at this event.

    The announcer did a great job of calling the race with entries named,,,who dat, thibodaux, beaudreau, banana, skinny dipper, falstaff, miller lite, bud lite, drew breese. Needless to say, who dat was the winner!

    We took a nice stroll in the historic downtown area. We've been on the go so much lately we decided to call it an early afternoon. We arrived back at the motorhome at 2:00 PM and enjoyed a nice laid-back relaxing afternoon.

    Oh, the great gator race is a fund-raiser for the Southern Mutual Help Association, Inc. The gators were little plastic guys about 18 inches long! Here's a link about the Great Gator Race and the SHMA...

    The 7th Annual Great Gator Race

    This Saturday in Bouligny Plaza, Southern Mutual Help Association will host their 7th Annual Great Gator Race.

    Beginning at 11 am, food booths will be serving scruptious food while Geno Delafose and French Rockin' Boogie takes the stage! At 12 noon 5000 plastic gators will race down the Bayou Teche with the help of the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Department, The New Iberia Fire Department and La. Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. The first gators pulled out coincide with a number on a ticket. To purchase your "GATORS" go to Paul's Flower Shop, Iberiabank, Community First, Teche Federal, Regions and the Daily Iberian. Tickets are $5 each!

  • Pause poétique sans oublier Xynthia

    Bonjour tout l'monde !

    Le temps est au bilan pour Xynthia, et les sinistrés commencent à réaliser ce qui leur est arrivé. Et ils craquent.
