    COTEAU — Donning shiny red rain boots, Allison Thomas of New Iberia perched in the back of an SUV with her sister Emily and took shelter from the rain and wind  while waiting for signs that Coteau’s Mardi Gras parade was going to continue as planned.

    Despite an ongoing tornado watch, parade hopefuls were greeted just after 2 p.m. by energetic revelers who braved spurts of heavy rainfall and high winds to give locals a chance to catch a throw.
